Is American Idol Scripted Or Paula Abdul Is On Crack

American Idol Watch

OK...I admit it, I am an Idol Watcher! Maybe there is a deeply hidden desire to be the Next American Idol suppressed in me. Does anyone out there see the need to add yet ONE MORE contest driven TV reality show??? I want to be the first in line for the audition to become the first AMERCIAN GERIATRIC IDOL!

I am sad to see Brooke go. No, I didn't think she would be the next IDOL, but I did like her smile, sincerity, and her stand for God and morality. Did you remember at her 2nd or 3rd audition, she mentioned she didn't drink, smoke...etc? And, when she lifted her hands and said "Thank you" above, I sensed her dependence on the Almighty.

The You Tube video above was really talked about all today...The Paula Abdul flub to me was just FUNNY! I felt the whole show was a bit rushed, and the contestants didn't have any flash or dash. I think ole Paula was bored and forgot where they were in the show...hadn't Ryan told them their remarks would come after the second song....and then he asked them to give a quick response after the first go round???

OH WELL...I guess I am going to go for David Cooke

Alright, it is time for you to leave your comments. Am I spending too much time on this pass time of American Idol??

If you are an AIW...who do you think will be the NEXT American Idol?

Seven Things You May Not Know About Me

Tripping over a blog of a stranger, I was inspired to post

Seven things you may not know about me!

1. I hit the snooze button AT LEAST 3 times before I get out of bed. (that means I set my alarm clock to go off 45 minutes before I have to get up)

2. When I was a little girl (OMG was that a long time ago) I would make a tent out of a card table and quilts and watch cartoons every Saturday. My mother would serve me breakfast in the tent.

3. I was one of the only girls in second grade to get a spanking. (yep...it was legal to give punishment in school)

4. When I tried out for cheerleader (going from 6th grade to 7th grade) in front of the WHOLE student body...9th grade boys all on the front row...I forgot my cheer. Needless to say...I did not make cheerleader.

5. My precious sister, a senior in high school...had to sleep with a second grader everynight...me!

6. Every New Year's Eve, I ask God to put a Bible verse on my heart that will serve as a standard for the coming year. This year? "In quietness and trust is my strength" paraphrased by me...

Isaiah 30:15 For thus saith the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel; In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength:

Admission: I am having a hard time in the "quietness" challenge! ;-)

7. I had the lead in
The Music Man as Marion, the Libraian, at Natchez High School in 1969 (my senior year) Opps...that may count as 8 things you didn't know about me!

OK all you bloggers out there...what are 7 things we need to know about you???

A Time To Plant

It is that time again! Onions, potatoes, tomatoes...have been planted. Don't you love spring and getting outside? Birds are chirping, bees are buzzing, and the sun is shining.

Kacy called from Chicago on Sunday to tell me it was snowing! I keep telling her to come back SOUTH! Right now she is so happy and loving her job. I wanted to link to her site, but I think her's is on Face Book so I will have to find out where and how to do that.

Rain, my 4 year old grandson rides part way to work with me each morning...oh the conversations we have. This morning he said, "Mimi, when I find a boy just like me living in a house just like mine, I have to tell my mom and dad." What a great time to tell him how God had created only ONE of him. I explained how down to his fingerprint...he was made special. The look on his face of course was priceless.

If you read this post...God wants you to know...You are special. There is noone just like you!

Why Worry?

"And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. ' Matthew 6:28
As Spring is working its magic, everywhere I look God reminds me not to worry. Life does not give us a free ride. There are so many opportunites life gives me to revert to worry. As a mother, I want the best for my children and the enemy tempts me with worry. But God says "and why do you worry?"

I look around at my neighbors going through illness, tragedies, fear and the enemy tempts me with worry for them. But God says "and why do you worry?"

We are losing american young people in a war that seems to be right, but I worry about the families and their losses. But God says "and why do you worry?"
We are called to trust GOD. A bible verse that I used to repeat in my childhood when night time noises and dark shadows intruded in my safe bedroom was, "What time I am afraid I will trust in Thee!" OK, I confess...it is a bible verse I repeat often as I walk through my days.

So tonight, I choose to trust God. When fears filter in, when worry tries to take control, I will walk among the lilies and her again God whisper "and why do you worry?"

The Chicks

I want to introduce the Chicks. Charles built me the Hen Hotel about 3 years ago. I have enjoyed watching Pearl (white), Henrietta (red), Weezie (dominicker), and Myrtle (gold wing) We don't have Blanche anymore. Four was the perfect number. I have fresh eggs everyday.

You may wonder what got me interested in having Chickens. I was on a trip and went to a bookstore. I found a great book "The Urban Chicken.' I was hoping I would find a link online for the book. I did find this site http://home.centurytel.net/thecitychicken/ that may be a help get started with your own coop.

Daley, one of my grandsons, once told me. "Mimi, I love coming to your house. It is like coming to ANIMAL PLANET. Gotta love it!

April Showers

The rain is falling down. This has been a very rainy end of March and beginnig of April. But...April showers bring May flowers. Rain brings a very cleansing feeling to me. The pollen is covering every surface available...until the rain washes it away. What a wonderful time of year. Spring represents so much...new life, new beginnings, and a new day. I can't wait to start digging in the dirt. Charles has already planted onions and potatoes, next tomatoes. Bacon and tomatoe sandwiches...yum!
